PROFILE

CHRISTINE G. H. FRANCK is a designer and educator with a practice in New York City. Her work includes award-winning residential design projects such as Chadsworth Cottage, a new beachfront residence on Figure Eight Island, North Carolina; the redecoration of apartments and lobbies throughout New York City; regularly published writings such as her recurring column on American house styles for Old House Journal's New Old House; and leadership in classical architectural education, such as her volunteer direction of the academic programs of The ICA&CA from 1998 to 2005 and appointments at the University of Notre Dame and Georgia Institute of Technology's College of Architecture.  Ms. Franck also serves on the Board of Directors of the ICA&CA and the Steering Committee of INTBAU. She has previously served on the Advisory Councils of the University of Notre Dame and the ICA&CA.

She developed her design sensitivity at an early age in her hometown of Williamsburg, Virginia. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Master of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame. In 2002 Ms. Franck was honored by HRH The Prince of Wales with the first Public Service Award of the Prince’s Foundation for "her outstanding contribution to the study of architecture and design." Her design work and essays have been published in A Decade of Art and Architecture, Period Homes Magazine, New Old House Magazine, Residential ArchitectArchitecture Magazine, The Classicist No. 6, and exhibited at A Decade of Art and Architecture and The Art of Building Cities.
